Here We Go!

Our family name is BRUNNER.  We have heard that in ancient times the Brunners were Well-Diggers in Germany, and later people who lived beside wells or fresh springs of water.

Mom and Dad joke that he married up, since mom's ancestors were knights and nobility in England, and the Brunner's were simply Well Diggers!  However, mom says that being a Well Digger is a great thing.  Why?  Because without water people can't live.  Same is true with LIVING WATER!

John 4:4-14

So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?  Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

This blog is going to help me do 2 things.  First, it will help me dig down deep into God's Word so that I can drink the LIVING WATER that leads to eternal life.  The second thing I will do here is record the things I am thankful for.  Mom says that my heart is a deep well, and if I learn to fill it with thankfulness then I will learn contentment.  Contentment can be really hard for me.  Being thankful for what I have isn't easy.

So here I go!  Today is my ninth birthday and I have so much to be thankful for.

I got an electric guitar this morning and get to start lessons on Thursday.  I've been playing it all morning.  I also received a letter opener in the shape of a Hobbit sword from my Grandpa Brunner.  My mom gave me a CD player and a couple of CDs.  Grandma gave me a pro NFL Football and Nana sent me football receiver gloves.

Yesterday I had a birthday party with Aidan and Emmett, my two cousins, and some other good friends.  We played a football game and then went to Chuck E. Cheese's.  After the party my heart felt really good.  I was satisfied.

When we got home I watched a Christmas movie and then Mom and Dad tucked me into bed.  Mom sang four songs to me and tickled my back.  I don't want to say this, but I'll just tell you that I complained for more at bedtime.  I don't like this about myself:  I want to be content, peaceful, thankful, and satisfied.

This blog is going to help me focus on all the good stuff when I want to keep asking for more.

"For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."  (Revelation 7:17)
